A naked old woman is the protagonist of this digital animation that reflects on human nature and the prevailing deterioration of moral values. With an ambiguous treatment of great effectiveness that mixes irony and commitment in tone, the artist puts on the woman’s lips an emotional speech that encourages the viewer to redirect his life towards the purity of the heart and the noble feelings of love of neighbor, moving away of selfishness, waste and ethical precariousness.
Arregui has once again counted on the voice of Elsa Fábregas, dubber of mythical actresses like Jeanne Moreau, to interpret the text she wrote, full of levels of significance.
The author designs a character from an age far removed from heroin prototypes, in this case an aged-bodied eighty-year-old woman who descending an infinite staircase and subjected to the forces of an emphatic gale addresses her friends and the viewer, to propose to redirect the life towards goodness, honesty, serenity, and uprightness of spirit.
As in other of his pieces, on the one hand we would find a literal reading that puts us on notice of the decrepitude of positive values today, delivered as we are to an exacerbated capitalism that exalts and justifies itself from the media; and on the other, the melodramatic treatment of the old lady’s oratory reminds us of the ease with which we can manufacture, with the appropriate tools, these proclamations frequently bathed in hypocrisy.
Another interesting aspect is to consider the character in his own nature, the digital one, from which he presents himself submerged in a certain existential void, in a kind of existentialism: “… even though it is an imitation, that some sentimental ridicule has brought to this world” … “Here I stay, suspended in time”
